We equip marginalised groups – women, youth, people living with disabilities -with the technical, business, and creative skills they need to run successful cottage factories while reducing textile waste, in extension, the industry’s carbon footprint.
Empowering Rural Women, Youth, and People Living with Disabilities
Vukani BoMake is dedicated to uplifting the most vulnerable economic groups, including unemployed women in rural areas, youth, and people living with disabilities (PLDs). These groups are the backbone of our initiative, with all cottage factories operated by them.
The introduction of Vukani Youth has opened new doors for opportunity and expansion. However, continued investment in training and technical skills remains essential to fully realize this potential and sustain the impact.
We educate artisans on their carbon footprint, and demonstrate how upcycling can significantly lower CO2 emissions. For every kilogram of fabric waste upcycled, approximately 10-15 kg of CO2 emissions are prevented.
Through 13 community cottage factories and 1 fully equipped structured production facility, Vukani BoMake is creating opportunities and empowering communities across Eswatini.
Training & Sustainable Business Model

Ottoman Production
Trainees learn the complete process of crafting high‑quality ottomans, from design to marketing.
Artisans gain hands-on experience in every step of creating high-quality ottomans—from safe handling of tools and materials, to precise measuring, cutting, and professional fabric finishing. They learn how to assemble durable, beautiful pieces that are built to last.
We further teach essential business development skills to ensure sustainability. These include: pricing, marketing, recordkeeping, and client relations—equipping them to turn craftsmanship into a thriving enterprise.
Garment Production
We prepare trainees for professional garment manufacturing, from design to finished product.
Trainees are equipped with the full spectrum of garment production skills—from workplace safety and sewing fundamentals to mastering flat-bed and overlock machines. They learn fabric handling, production planning, inventory tracking, and quality control to meet industry standards.
The program also covers pricing, branding, digital marketing, and factory management, giving participants the tools to coordinate teams, manage orders, and build lasting client relationships.
